The challenge
Ringwood Public School District in New Jersey — four schools (Robert Erskine, Peter Cooper, Eleanor G. Hewitt and Martin J. Ryerson) serving nearly 1,000 students — needed to modernize wireless that was no longer keeping up with classroom demand. The work had to qualify for E-Rate funding and meet its rules and deadlines, and it had to happen during the school year — without taking classrooms, gyms or offices offline. Most districts struggle to find one partner who can both win the E-Rate funding and do the hands-on build behind it.
Our approach
- Won the funding — secured the district’s competitive E-Rate bid with a compliant, well-scoped proposal for a full district-wide wireless refresh.
- Pre-staged everything — registered all 125 Cisco access points on the Meraki cloud dashboard, applied licensing and firmware, and mapped every old AP to its replacement before install day — so time on site was minimal.
- Re-cabled for real coverage — ran new cabling to reposition access points to the center of rooms, neatly routed in raceways, rather than reusing wherever the old units happened to sit.
- Covered the hard spaces — in high-ceiling gyms and cafeterias, used a lift to mount high-capacity access points that hold up during games and events, for students, staff and visitors alike.
- Worked around the school day — scheduled every install so classes and operations were never interrupted, then validated coverage and resolved RF issues school by school.
The solution
VeeMost both won Ringwood’s E-Rate funding and delivered the build behind it. Across all four schools we removed the aging access points and installed 125 new Cisco units — 117 standard and 8 high-capacity models — cloud-managed through Meraki, re-cabled rooms for optimal placement, and brought the new wireless online district-wide in about two weeks. Because every unit was staged in the cloud beforehand, the on-site work was fast and no class was ever interrupted.
